Dear scholars and friends,

It is a great honor to say a few words here.

The 22nd World Congress of Philosophy (Seoul, 2008), which was held in Asia for the first time, realized a grand gathering of eastern and western scholars. After the meeting, many scholars from all over the world had become increasingly aware of the human predicament result from modern industrial civilization based on the mechanistic thinking, and then arrived at a consensus to establish Biocosmological Association (BCA) in 2010 in Russia. In the past five years, BCA, under the organization and coordination by president Prof. Victor K. KOZLOV, Prof. Kwon Jong YOO and secretary Dr. Konstantin S. KHROUTSKI, held many academic forums and became one of the most active associations in the international circles. The 10th International Seminar on Biocosmology, held in Beijing Normal University from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 in 2015, attracted more than one hundred participants, about sixty of whom gave their presentations, making it be the largest number of participants since the first seminar. We hope to take it as an opportunity to promote the activities of the international biocosmology to have higher level and greater influence.

Biocosmology bridges social and natural sciences, conciliates the east and the west and transfixes in the ancient and modern. Biocosmology respects openness, diversity and dialogue, and advocates humble, introspection and action. So, it can be a theoretical and practical platform for carrying out multilateral dialogue. Over the next couple years, we not only wish to have a mutually inspired by multilateral interaction, to get acquainted with more friends through the academic discussion in different countries and regions, to stipulate more ideas and practical resources, but also hope to form the features of BCA by the rounding up the core biocosmological documents and new insights, and to gain strength and show its advantages by expanding press space and participating in the beneficial action for human future. All are aimed to make BCA become a beam of civilization light in our messed-up world, and to let colleagues’ visions become an important wealth in the treasure house of human thought.

Organicity is the base for us to understand the word. There much starlight, including Socrates, Aristotle, Jesus, Buddha, Confucius, Lao-zi, Mohammed and so on, illuminated the way for the human beings. Facing the long history of human beings’ civilizations and infinite broader future, only if we forget ourselves and hesitate to devote ourselves to the depths of cosmos, society and mind and to love that light by action can we have the deeper relationship with the Being through the individual and then arrive at the synergetic realm.

The development of BCA gained the full help from the scholars from all over the world and secretariat in the past, who provide strong support for BCA. For the future, only we hold hands and unite more closely can BCA be more prosperous and make more contribution.

We honestly appreciate everyone!

Best wishes to all of you!

The 4th International Seminar on Biocosmology and
the 3rd International Conference on Comparative Studies of Mind,
Chung-Ang University, December 14-15, 2012

Yoo, Kwon Jong
President of BCA
Ph. D., Professor,
Dept. of Philosophy

Seoul, Korea

My Fellow Members,

I would like to give my sincere thanks to the members for allowing me the role of the president at the 4th International Seminar on Biocosmology and the 3rd International Conference on Comparative Studies of Mind at Seoul. Since established in 2010, the Biocosmological Association (BCA) has been developed without cessation and in the last year achieved excellent advance that it gave birth to its cherish child, ‘the Asian Center for Biocosmology (neo-Aristotelism) and Mind Studies (ACBMS)’. I highly appreciate all the dedicated members as well as Konstantin Khroutski’s devotion to the prosperous growth of our Association. All of your concern and cooperation brings our Association distinct and brighter.

I am really pleased to communicate all of the members with my plan for taking a step forward in the future. It is a plan to make one of the best academic societies. It seems too ambitious to accomplish for a short time. Nevertheless, if all the members have a communal willingness toward such purpose, there will be no great odds, I believe. Therefore I dare to make plea for your hands.

Since establishing this Association, the first President, Prof. Victor Kozlov, Secretary Dr. Konstantin Khroutski, and many other members have made great works that paved the way for further progress of the fledgling association. We can catch favorable signs from what we have done such as regular publication of the journal ‘Biocosmology – neo-Aristotelism’, continuous international seminars, expansive cooperation with regional academic societies, including Novgorod State University after Yaroslav-the-Wise in Veliky Novgorod, Russia; Witten/Herdecke University, Germany; Kumamoto University, Japan; and Chung-Ang University in Seoul, Korea in 2012; and the establishment of ACBMS. Moreover, what is hopeful is that many members have met each other several times and developed close solidarities with each other.

Now it is the time when we take off for the further leap toward the best global association. It is not limited only to my opinion that the name of our association, ‘BIOCOSMOLOGY’ is a very initiating and connotative concept that can be related to various academic research fields and thus various approaches have been presented at the Seminars and published in our Journal. In my esteem, the concept of ‘BIOCOSMOLOGY’ will make it feasible to work kinds of integrated researches or interdisciplinary studies and Biocosmological practices that each member of our Association will join in.

I would like to set forth my ideas and plans, and ask for your cooperation: First, friendship among members will be an important basis of our Association’s development and success. Second, more active and closer cooperation in the exchange of ideas and researches will be emphasized. Third, planning of worldwide co-research projects and realization of the plan will be considered. For the planning and realization of the research projects I will knock the National Research Foundation (NRF) of Korea or other sponsors. Let’s develop good agenda and fields for our co-researches. Fourth, in considering the significance of our e-journals (‘Biocosmology – neo-Aristotelism’ and ‘Proceedings of the Asian Centre for Biocosmology and Mind Studies’) we need tighten the requirements to an article prepared for the publication. If fruits of the co-research projects will be published in the journals, it will be one of the best achievements of our Association. Finally, it is necessary for us to manage our BCA by associating its activity with the Society of Mind Studies, because the Asian Center has directions not only to Biocosmological Researches but also to Mind Studies. If the work is done, we will harvest more valuable fruits.

I think that joining the Association and co-working with members is an important life for each and every one. Therefore, what we care is how to enjoy the life. I hope all members join the Biocosmological activities and enjoy their privileges.

Thanks a lot to all the fellow members.

Kwon Jong Yoo
